Cross-Class Presentations

PRESENTATION DATES!!!

Chapters 30 & 31 - April 11            
Chapters 32 & 33 - April 13        
Chapters 34 & 35 - April 15

Directions:

You will be working in a group made up of members of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods to present one of the chapters to the class.  You will be identifying main events, key people, and important concepts of the chapter and explaining their importance to your classmates.

Requirements:

Your segment of the class should be no more than 45 minutes long.  There will be 2 presentations per period.  The same presentation, activities, etc. will be used every period.  Everyone in the group must have a job, and everyone in the group must feel comfortable giving the presentation for the chapter.

These items must be included in your presentation:

·         A PowerPoint presentation
·         A class activity (hands-on student centered activity to acquire knowledge)
·         A timeline of major events
·         Key people, major concepts to know
·         A note-taking strategy (T-chart, fill-in-the-blank outline note, notecards, etc.) for students
·         Any review materials for the unit test following the presentations
·         5 test questions (from Ms. Aydinian’s test bank) – needs to be done before presentations start and selected/agreed upon as a group

Scoring Rubric:

·         Presentation                                        15
                o   Delivery, appearance, visuals, length, content
·         Class Activity                                       20    
                o   Student-centered, meets learning objective, execution, content
·         Teaching Materials                             15
                o   Handouts, note-taking strategy, review materials
·         Chapter Content                                  50
                   o   Execution of content transmission, content selection, timeline/people/concepts

·         Peer Evaluation                                   separate Classwork grade
                                                                    (The category is worth 45% of your final average)

Obviously you will work to include the 5 AP Themes of the course within your teaching as well.
